JAKARTA – Ahead of the operation of Yogyakarta International Airport (YIA), Angkasa Pura Airports ensures that land transport operators in Yogyakarta are ready to support the mobility of prospective passengers to and from the new airport which is located in Kulon Progo Regency.

"We have coordinated with the Yogyakarta Transportation Agency and land transport operators in the province regarding the readiness of transportation modes for prospective airplane passengers who want to go or leave the YIA. Angkasa Pura I highly appreciate several land transport operators who are ready to support the mobility of the passengers when the airport operates,” said Angkasa Pura Airports president director Faik Fahmi.

Land transportation operators that have confirmed to operate include Perum Damri, PT Keren Transindo Sejahtera (SatelQu), Primkopau II taxi operators, and Organda DIY (two companies). In addition, state-owned railway company PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) also prepared a train route to Wojo Station in Purworejo to support the mobility to YIA.

Perum Damri prepares 12 busses that will serve four routes of round-trips in the initial stages, namely YIA - Yogyakarta (Yogyakarta Damri Branch Office), YIA - Wojo Station, YIA - Magelang (Borobudur Temple) and YIA - Kebumen via Purworejo (Hotel Patra).

Meanwhile, SatelQu provides nine buses that will serve three routes of round-trips, namely Banjarnegara - Wonosobo - Purworejo - YIA – Adisutjipto International Airport, Cilacap - YIA - Adisutjipto International Airport, and Purwokerto - YIA - Adisutjipto International Airport.

For prospective passengers who want to take train, KAI prepares six travel routes. KAI also prepares a train that will serve four round-trips from Maguwo Station at Adisutjioto International Airport, Tugu Station, then go to Wojo Station and the other two trips will be served by Solo Ekspres with route Solobalapan - Kutoarjo. From Wojo Station, passengers can continue their journey to YIA using the shuttle bus (Damri) with a travel time of around 10 minutes.

"We hope that with the choice of various land transportation modes can facilitate prospective passengers and provide a sense of security and comfort while traveling from and to YIA. This is also a manifestation of synergy and transportation connectivity in Yogyakarta," Faik added.
