Angkasa Pura Airports Distributes Aids Worth Rp 1 Billion to Help Preventing Covid-19 Spread

JAKARTA - As a form of its commitment in preventing the spread of COVID-19 and assisting the communities who financially affected by the pandemic, Angkasa Pura Airports is providing various social assistance worth Rp1 billion (US$68,000).

The social aids include the purchase of COVID-19 testing kits through the Yayasan BUMN Hadir Untuk Negeri(SOE Presents for the Nation Foundation) of Rp592 million.

"We also provide disinfectant tents worth Rp49.5 for several markets in Jakarta in cooperation with Perumda Pasar Jaya in addition to the COVID-19 detection and extraction tools which are very much needed these days," said Angkasa Pura Airports president director Faik Fahmi.

Apart from that, Angkasa Pura Airports in April will distribute various assistance such as disinfectant liquid, gloves and googles worth Rp169.5 million which will be distributed through cooperation with the administration of Sidoarjo Regency, East Java. Then, five sets of computers and two printers for COVID-19 Emergency Hospital at Wisma Atlet Kemayoran in Jakarta, as well as nine basic commodities worth Rp38.8 million for affected residents in Manado, collaborating with the Social Service Agency of North Sulawesi.

Meanwhile, other assistance in the form of spraying disinfectant worth Rp50 million provided by the General Ahmad Yani International Airport along with the Nahdlatul Ulama Health Institute in Semarang, nine basic necessities packages worth Rp100 million for residents affected by COVID-19 living around Sultan Hasanuddin International Airport in Makassar. Then, 1,500 masks and 100 nine basic necessities packages for affected residents in Biak worth Rp35 million in collaboration with the COVID-19 Task Force in Biak Numfor District, as well as 2,400 litters of disinfectant liquid and 2,400 masks for communities living around Lombok International Airport.

"COVID-19 has begun to spread to several regions in central and eastern Indonesia. Angkasa Pura Airports seeks to expedite assistance to various regions where the airports of Angkasa Pura Airports are present. Looking at the graph of the number of new COVID-19 patients that keeps increasing every day as well as widespread infection, we strongly urge the public to implement health protocols to prevent the spread of COVID-19 by doing activities at home, always washing hands and implementing clean and healthy lifestyles, and do not travel, including going back to your hometown for a while for those who do not have the urgency to do so to break the chain of the spread of this pandemic," Faik said.
