Angkasa Pura Airports Collaborates With Incheon International Airport Corporation to Improve Airport Staff Competence

JAKARTA - In a bid to improve the staff performance, Angkasa Pura Airports has engaged South Korean’s Incheon International Airport Corporation (IIAC) to train the local staff, given that IIAC is well-known as one of the world’s best airports.

The partnership is embodied in a form of Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed by Angkasa Pura President Director Faik Fahmi and Vice President of IIAC, Lim Byung Kee, on 17 December 2018 in Pelataran Menteng, Jakarta.

“We are so grateful that we can finally realize the partnership to train our staff, as we know IIAC is known as one of the world’s best airports. The cooperation is in line with our mission to make our 13 airports comply with the international standards for airport safety and comfort,” Faik said.

As of October 2018, Angkasa Pura Airports had served 81.2 million people, an increase of 9 percent compared to the same period in 2017, which reached 74.5 million people.

The highest number of passengers was recorded at I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport in Bali with 19.8 million people, 9.3 percent higher than the same period in the previous year.

The second highest traffic in this period was seen at Juanda International Airport in Surabaya, which served 17.6 million people or 6.7 percent higher compared to the previous period.

Angkasa Pura Airports’ commitment in improving its performance has resulted in international awards in regard to the customer experience.

Airports Council International (ACI) awarded “Airport Service Quality (ASQ) Awards 2017” to three of Angkasa Pura Airports.

One of the airports was I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport in Bali which was named as the best airport in the world for category 15-25 million passengers per year, the second-best airport in Asia-Pacific category with over 2 million passengers per year, and the best airport in Asia-Pacific for category 15-25 million passengers per year.

Juanda International Airport also won the award. The airport was listed as the world’s third-best airport for category 15 – 25 passengers per year.

Meanwhile, Sultan Aji Muhammad Sulaiman Sepinggan International Airport in Balikpapan also won the award as it was named as the second-best airport in the world for category 5-15 million passengers per year.

"We are very pleased with this collaboration. We will do our very best to be able to accommodate the needs of Angkasa Pura Airports. We hope this collaboration can be improved in the future," said IIAC deputy director Choi Doo Sun.

"We are optimistic that this training program will improve the competence of Angkasa Pura Airports staff in managing the airports. Furthermore, the most important thing is that we are committed to provide the best services for all of our passengers and maintain our achievements," Faik added.
