SIDOARJO – Mudik (hometown) backflow at Juanda Surabaya International Airport reached its peak on Sunday, 3 August 2014 or H+5 of Lebaran. 60,692 passengers travel through the airport. Communication and Legal Section Head of PT Angkasa Pura I, Andrias Yustinian said that final data on D+5 of Lebaran at Juanda International Airport showed a significant number and was reported crowed.


“On D+5 we had 194 flights with 29,392 passengers at arrival and 194 flights with 31,300 passengers at departure,” said Andrias to Tempo, 4 August 2014.

Those numbers, he added, was an accumulation of domestic arrival using 177 flights with 25,793 passengers and domestic departure using 177 flights with 28,994 passengers, added with international arrival using 17 flights with 3,599 passengers and international departure using 17 flights with 2,306 passengers.

“Therefore, we predicted that yesterday was the peak of mudik backflow at Juanda Airport,” he said.

Andrias said the numbers increased significantly compared to previous days. For D+4, final data showed a total of departure used 185 flights with 27,286 passengers and total of arrival used 187 flights with 28,756 passengers. “Today is the first active day, so they went back yesterday,” he said.

For D+3, data showed a total of arrival used 180 flights with 25,309 passengers and total of departure used 179 flights with 24,703 passengers. Meanwhile, for D+3, data showed a total of arrival used 177 flights with 26,222 passengers and total of departure used 175 flights with 23,717 passengers.
