SURABAYA - New terminal of Juanda International Airport Surabaya, which is Terminal 2 (T2) will be officially operated tommorrow, Friday, February 14th, 2014. This terminal, which has 49,500m2 broad and is able to accomodate 6 million passangers per year, requires almost Rp 1 billion of investment. 


"The operation of T2 Juanda International Airport constitutes a commitment of Angkasa Pura I to improve service to airport service users," said General Manager Juanda International Airport, Trikora Harjo.

T2 Juanda International Airport shall be the firts airport in Indonesia which adopts 12 technology infrastructures at once. Although the status is as a connecting terminal, T2 Juanda International Airport has eco-airport concept by utilizing water conservation and reduces energy consumption.   

During this time, Juanda International Airport has over capacity. By only 6,5 million passanger capacity per year, this proudfull East Java society airport served 17,6 million passangers in 2013. It elevated 12% then 16,3 million of passangers in 2012.

"Although T2 yet fully accomodate all users, it is expected to parse the density in Terminal 1 of Juanda International Airport," added Trikora.

This T2 Juanda International Airport that was constructed since 2012 and had 112,200 m2 of total broad is equipped with 12 airbridges units, 3 counters of Visa on Arrival (VoA), 6 travelator units, 5 escalator units, 3 lift units, as well as a sophisticated baggage management system namely HBS (handling baggage system). Besides, T2 Juanda International Airport has a parking area which accomodates 1,845 vehicles.

Based on the plan, T2 Juanda International Airport shall be used to serve international passangers of 18 airlines and accomodate domestic passangers of Garuda Indonesia, Air Asia and Tigerair Mandala.

Besides, Angkasa Pura Airports cooperates with Incheon Airport, South Korea, to develop commercial area in the airport. This new concept will create a unique experience in the airport for passangers, as well as to improve non-aeroneutics revenues for Angkasa Pura Airports. []
