Semester I of 2018, Profit Of Angkasa Pura Airports Grow By 18%

Jakarta, July 20, 2018 - Angkasa Pura Airports posted a profit growth of 18% in the first half of 2018 compared to the profit during the same period last year. In the first half of this year, Angkasa Pura Airports achieved a profit of 1.04 trillion IDR, rising from profit in the same period of the previous year which amounted to 885 billion IDR.

The increase of the net profit of the company managing the airports in the central to eastern part of Indonesia was attributable  to the operating income that grew 15 percent in the first half of 2018. Angkasa Pura Airports managed to reap operating income of 3.8 trillion IDR in the first half of this year, while in the same period of 2017, the profit only recorded 3.3 trillion IDR.

The Aeronautical Business which includes Aircraft Landing, Placement and Hangar Services (PJP4U), Aircraft Passenger Service (PJP2U), aviobridge service, check-in counter, and baggage handling system services that contributed about 59.1% of total revenue or 2.3 trillion IDR. This figure rose by 18.3% from the revenue in of the first half of 2017 which was only 2 trillion IDR. Meanwhile, non-aeronautical business revenue stood at 1.5 trillion IDR, up by 10 percent from 1.35 trillion IDR year-on-year (YOY).

"The significant growth in profit is partly due to the traffic growth over the previous years. Based  on our data, the aircraft movement grew by 9.4% and passenger movement went up  by11%. The increase in traffic is due to the addition of new routes in several airports, both domestic and international," said Main Director of Angkasa Pura Airports, Faik Fahmi.

Passenger Traffic Reached 46 Million People

In the first half of 2018, passenger traffic at 13 airports of Angkasa Pura Airports reached 46,560,775 people, growing 11% compared to the passenger traffic in the same period of 2017 that was recorded at 41,892,980 people. Meanwhile, air traffic data in the first semester of 2018 reached 413,158 movements, growing 9.4% compared to traffic in the same period of 2017 which was recorded at 377,630 aircraft movements. Meanwhile, cargo traffic in this semester decreased by 1.6% with a total of 205,878 tons compared to the first semester of 2017 which reached 209,385 tons.

The highest traffic growth of passengers in the first semester of 2018 occurred at Frans Kaisiepo Biak Airport with a growth rate of 22.7% or a increase of to 240,750 people from 196.101 people in the first half of 2017. Meanwhile, the highest number of passengers occurred at I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport total passengers that reached 11,140,768 people, growing 9.7% over the same period in 2017 which only recorded 10,155,393 people. The second highest passenger traffic occurred at Juanda International Airport Surabaya with total passengers reaching 10,237,589 people, up 9.51% over the same period in 2017 which was recorded at 9,348,598 people.

Target of 8.7 Trillion IDR Income in 2018

In 2018, Angkasa Pura Airports targets 8.7 trillion IDR in revenues, an increase of 16 percent from 7.5 trillion IDR in 2017, with a profit target of 1.5 trillion IDR. "The revenue target is supported by the operation of the new terminal of Ahmad Yani Airport in Semarang in June 2018, the increase of capacity and utilization of airport air side production equipment, and the growth of five Angkasa Pura I subsidiaries namely Angkasa Pura Suport, Angkasa Pura Logistik, Angkasa Pura Properti, Angkasa Pura Hotel, and Angkasa Pura Retail,"added Faik Fahmi.

Angkasa Pura Airports also proactively offeredopening of new routes from and to the airports of Angkasa Pura Airports for global airlines by providing price incentives or eliminating the cost of landings. Optimization of the performance of subsidiaries was also done to achieve the set targets .

"In 2018 we are also focusing on improving service quality in 13 airports such as terminal service innovation, smart airport implementation, business process digitization and acceleration of two airports included in national strategic projects, Syamsuddin Noor Banjarmasin Airport and New Yogyakarta International Airport.

In addition, currently Angkasa Pura Airports also continues to pursue the target of completing the International Airport development project I Gusti Ngurah Rai Bali to welcome the delegates of the IMF and World Bank Annual Meeting to be held in October 2018

In general, the development of Airport I Gusti Ngurah Rai Bali covered the development of air side and land side developments. The development of the air side was the expansion of the apron and the rapid exit taxiway. While the development on the land side included the expansion area of ​​international check-in counters and the construction of multi-storey car park building.

"Not only to welcome the delegates of the IMF-World Bank 2018 Annual Meeting, in the future this development will also support the potential growth of tourists entering and leaving Bali," Faik Fahmi said.

In addition to the development of several airports, the company also hopes to soon take over the management of the six airports that are currently managed under the Ministry of Transportation (Airport Implementation Unit), namely Komodo Labuan Bajo Airport, Jayapura Sentani Airport, Juwata Tarakan Airport, Syin Aminudin Amir Luwuk Airport, Mutiara Sis Airport Al Jufri Palu, and New Samarinda Airport," Faik Fahmi said.

Up
