Angkasa Pura Airports has done a transparent selection process for micro, small and medium enterprises (UMKM) business partners and some other business partners for Domestic Terminal. After the selection process, President Director of Angkasa Pura Airports, Tommy Soetomo (4/7) signed contracts with 7 UMKM enterprises and 9 enterprises for Domestic Terminal.

As we may all know, members of Airport Entrepreneurs Association (P2B) have asked Angkasa Pura I to facilitate them to be able to re-open their business in I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport, which has been stopped due to the airport expansion project and terminal renovation. Therefore, Angkasa Pura Airports, as the airport operator has welcomed all members of P2B (UMKM) to join the selection process.

“In accordance to our commitment with the Provincial Government, Commission IV of the House of Representatives, and National Commission for Human Rights, Angkasa Pura I supported the operating entrepreneurs within UMKM category to be able to continue their businesses in I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport. The appointment of business partners for all airports that we are running has to follow the principles of Good Corporate Governance (GCG). Therefore, all prospective business partners have to go through a transparent selection process,” Tommy explained.

Tommy also added, since 2010 Angkasa Pura Airports has focused itself on income growth from nonaeronautika side, such as improving the management of commercial area in I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport.

“In developing the commercial area, Angkasa Pura I and GVK Airport through Ngurah Rai Commercial SBU organize an open and online selection program. Through this system the appointment process of business partners becomes more professional, transparent, accountable, responsible, independent and fair,” he said. Currently, the terminal covers 65,800 square meters; a 495% expansion of the old 13,300 square meters.

He also explained that the cooperation between Angkasa Pura Airports with 7 UMKM partners and 9 enterprises shows Angkasa Pura Airports’ serious effort in supporting Bali economic growth. “We require the entrepreneurs to employ local residents. 70% of their employees have to be originated from Bali, so that the airport can give a positive contribution to Bali economic growth,” he explained. Commercial SBU as the operator and developer of commercial area of I Gusti Ngurah Rai airport has made its record in the history of airport retail management in Indonesia. This is shown by its income growth which increased 12 (twelve) times compared to the previous years. With this significant income growth, it is expected to also improve the service quality for customers of I Gusti Ngurah Rai airport. The improving service quality will support the company’s vision accomplishment, which is becoming one of the ten top airports in Asia. [Sherly Yunita/Public Relation of DPS]
