Yogyakarta - Approaching mudik (hometown travel) flow of Lebaran 2014, the number of passengers taking off and landing on Adisutjipto International Airport is predicted to increase upto 30 percent compared to regular days. This rise is indicated by several airlines which have requested extra flights. "We currently have accepted requests from several airlines to add extra flights," said General Affair and Communication Section Head of Angkasa Pura Airports Adisutjipto Airport Branch, Faizal Indra Kusuma, when contacted by VIVAnews, Friday, 18 July 2014.

According to him, there will be a total of 182 extra flights on this upcoming Lebaran and it will be operated at night before 23.00 WIB for two weeks. With the extra flights, Adisutjipto Airport might add operational hours. "However, if there is a request for more extra flights, we are ready to operate for 24 hours," he explained. Meanwhile, the peak of mudik is predicted to happen on 25 July 2014 or D-2 Lebaran.

Lebaran Post

In the meantime, for security matters, Adisutjipto Airport will open a Lebaran Post. "Lebaran Post will serve the airport’s customers and will operate from D-7 to D+7," Faisal said. The post will serve the passengers as well as their companions with medical support and security officers. This is a join-task force between the airport office and several related parties.
