AMBON - Working Visit Team of Commission V led by Commission Vice Chairman Michael Wattimena along with 21 of its members fully support the desire Angkasa Pura Airports that will improve the status of Pattimura Airport as International Airport. The issue will be taken and discussed in a meeting with the Ministry of Transportation and other parties involved in the upcoming trial. This was raised when Working Visit Team of Commission V DPR RI at the end of the fourth year trial recess period 2013-2014 session, led by the deputy chairman of Commission V Michael Wattimena (FPS) held a meeting with PT Angkasa Pura I at the VIP meeting room, Complex Pattimura Airport Ambon Maluku , Monday, August 11, 2014.

"We came here to make sure that the process of development and implementation of work-related outcomes Pattimura Airport can actually benefit society, particularly for service in leading Indonesian regions such as Southeast Maluku region that maintained the integrity and sovereignty of the Republic of Indonesia" said Michael. Responding to the General Manager of Pattimura Airport Branch of Angkasa Pura Airports, YW Halendra explained that the need for air services to regions of Maluku edge already met with the three additional flights from Garuda Indonesia Airlines, they are to Ternate, Sorowai and Tual and one flight by Sriwijaya Airlines to Ternate.

Halendra further revealed that in fact the main problem of Pattimura Airport is its status as an international airport but without any flights to and from abroad. "So we ask support to the DPR  so that we can open up international routes to several cities abroad alone and flight schedules may not need every day," he said.

Member of Commission V Rendhy Lamadjido (F PDI-P) questioned the readiness of the airport and all parties involved in the organization of this international flights. "With these wishes if Angkasa Pura here is ready, also local authority. Do not be like the past, it was not fully supported, what happens is that the international route only lasted a few moments," said Rendhy.

Halendra stated that it had made various good coordinations with the Provincial Government, the various partners to the city recomends to open routes, namely Manila Philippines and Darwin Australia.
