International Flight to I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport in Bali Increase

Jakarta, February 26, 2022 - The number of international flight routes that will operate at I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport in Bali continues to grow. As of February 24, 2022, five airlines have issued route permits and one airline is in the process of reactivating the route through the Directorate General of Civil Aviation of the Ministry of Transportation for March 2022.

A total of 5 airlines have issued international flight route permits, including Jetstar Asia on Singapore – Denpasar (PP) route, Scoot on Singapore – Denpasar route, KLM on Singapore – Denpasar route, Garuda Indonesia on Sydney – Denpasar route, and AirAsia on Kuala Lumpur – Denpasar (PP) route. One airline, Jetstar Airways on Sydney – Denpasar and Melbourne – Denpasar routes are currently in the process of activating the route.

“We are so excited about the increase in international flights at I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport in Bali.  A total of 3 airlines, namely Jetstar Asia, Scoot and Garuda Indonesia, will make their first landing on March 4. This also adds to the list of international airlines that have been operating in Bali after Garuda Indonesia on Narita - Denpasar route and Singapore Airlines on Singapore - Denpasar route,” AP I President Director Faik Fahmi stated.

Based on data from the inaugural flight plan on March 4, 2022, Jetstar Asia Airways on Singapore - Denpasar (PP) route will use 180-seater Airbus A320 and be estimated to land at 09.55 WITA from Singapore. Meanwhile, Garuda Indonesia on Sydney - Denpasar route will use 360-seater Airbus A330 and be estimated to land at 14:45 WITA from Sydney. Meanwhile, Scoot on Singapore - Denpasar (PP) route will use 180-seater Airbus A320 and be estimated to land at 18.05 WITA from Singapore.

“Jetstar Asia and Scoot are scheduled to operate three flights a week and Garuda Indonesia will operate one flight a week in March,” Faik Fahmi said.

KLM Royal Dutch airlines on  Singapore - Denpasar (PP) route would operate two flights a week using 408-seater Boeing B777-300ER. AirAsia on Kuala Lumpur - Denpasar (PP) route would operate three flights a week using 180-seater Airbus A320. Meanwhile, Jetstar airline will operate three flights a week on Sydney - Denpasar and Melbourne - Denpasar routes using 335-seater Boeing B788.

“We are committed to support all efforts to revive international flight traffic amid the COVID-19 pandemic by applying strict health protocols and ensuring its operations in accordance with applicable regulations. Looking ahead, we are optimistic that the number of international passengers and flights to Bali would increase gradually and help the recovery of the local people’s economy and Bali tourism in a sustainable manner,” Faik Fahmi added.

For information, since the re-operation of international flights at I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport in Bali on February 1-24, 2022, international flight passenger traffic at Bali Airport has reached 1,784 passengers with aircraft traffic reaching 51 aircraft movements. In the period before the 2019 COVID-19 pandemic, international passenger traffic at Bali Airport reached 13.8 million passengers with international aircraft traffic reaching 73,886 aircraft movements.
