JAKARTA – Indonesian Vice President Ma'ruf Amin visited Yogyakarta International Airport (YIA) in Kulon Progo on Friday (1/24) saying that YIA is the most modern airport, most equipped, and capable of landing large A380 aircraft.

"Besides being modern, YIA is also decorated with Yogyakarta special ornaments, so people who come here can definitely feel the atmosphere of Yogyakarta. YIA is expected to increase foreign and domestic tourist visits to Yogyakarta, directly from various countries and not only for transit.”

The presence of YIA, Faik added, would improve the economy through the development of tourism destinations in Central Java and its surroundings such as Borobudur temple, which is located in the province, and become one of the five super priority tourist destinations.

YIA will be supported by multimodal accessibility such as toll roads and airport trains connecting directly to the airport. Currently, YIA is supported by public transportation such as Damri bus, SatelQu bus, airport taxi, ride-hailing, and train from Wojo Station which can be reached in 10 minutes by motor vehicle.
