In December 2021, Passenger Traffic At Angkasa Pura Airports Grows By 6 Percent

JAKARTA - Passenger traffic at 15 Angkasa Pura Airports in December 2021 grew by 6 percent from 3,434,671 passenger movements in November 2021 to 3,604,974 passenger movements in December 2021.

A 6 percent growth also occurred in aircraft traffic, from 34,479 aircraft movements in November 2021 to 36,682 aircraft movements in December 2021. Likewise, cargo traffic grew by 8 percent from 39,048,058 kg in November 2021 to 42,607,927 kg in December 2021.

“The increasing number of passengers at the managed airports in December shows that passenger confidence to travel by air transportation has begun to recover in line with the increasingly controlled cases of Covid-19 in the country. We always urge the public to continue to comply with the health protocols consistently, both at the pre- and post-journey stages to better control the Covid-19 cases,” Angkasa Pura Airports President Director, Faik Fahmi said.

Traffic in 2021

Meanwhile, flight traffic in 2021 at AP I’s airports decreased by 11 percent compared to flight traffic in 2020. This was due to the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic and the implementation of policies on mobility restrictions, including air transportation activities through Emergency PPKM from July to September 2021.

In 2021, Angkasa Pura Airports has served 28,294,809 passengers, decreased by 11 percent compared to passenger traffic in 2020 of 31,847,842 passengers. Likewise, aircraft traffic in 2021 decreased by 14 percent to 329,859 aircraft movements from 385,345 aircraft movements in 2020 and cargo traffic in 2021 decreased by 5 percent to 422,637,669 kg from 445,130,005 kg in 2020.

Christmas 2021 and New Year’s Eve 2022 Traffic

The 2021 Christmas and New Year 2022 (Nataru) Transport Command Post, which began on 17 December 2021, ended on Monday 3 January 2022. Passenger traffic in the Nataru period was 1,933,843 passengers, increased by 8 percent compared to the same period in the previous year of 1,790,284 passengers. Meanwhile, aircraft traffic was recorded at 19,843 movements or decreased by 14 percent compared to the previous period of 23,201 aircraft movements.

The highest passenger traffic in the Nataru period was at Sultan Hasanuddin Airport in Makassar with traffic of 391,592 passengers, followed by I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport in Bali with traffic of 384,931 passengers and Juanda Airport in Surabaya with traffic of 372,768 passengers.
