During the First Two Months of 2022, Angkasa Pura Airports Serves 6 Million Passengers

Jakarta, March 9, 2022 - During the first two months in 2022, it was recorded that PT Angkasa Pura Airports had served 6,090,015 passengers. Total passengers served increased by 59% compared to the same period in 2021 of 3,837,358 passengers at 15 airports under the management of Angkasa Pura Airports. 

Similarly, from January to February 2022, it was recorded that the Company served 67,173 aircraft movements or increased by 8.3% compared to those in the same period in 2021 of  62,040 aircraft movements. Cargo traffic statistics at the 15 managed airports also experienced growth, with 74,217,313 kg of cargo in 2022 compared to 70,845,408 kg of cargo in 2021, or grew by 4.8%.

For 28 days in February 2022, Angkasa Pura Airports was recorded to have served 2,591,586 passengers, 30,637 aircraft movements, and 34,855,255 kg of cargo at 15 managed airports. Meanwhile, in February 2021, 1,717,379 passengers, 28,332 aircraft movements, and 2,094,679 kg of cargo were served. Overall, passenger movements increased by 51%, aircraft movements increased by 8.1 %, and cargo traffic increased by 5.4%. 

“Based on records, air transport traffic statistics at the managed 15 airports recorded a positive value compared to those in 2021. This shows that the public confidence in air travel has been restored. We also urge the public to continue to comply with health protocols both at the pre and post-journey phases,” AP I’s President Director, Faik Fahmi said.

For the record in February 2022, Sultan Hasanuddin Airport in Makassar was the airport with the highest number of served passengers of 589,350 passengers, followed by Juanda Airport in Surabaya with 532,878 passengers, and I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport in Bali with 387,574 passengers.

The highest number of aircraft movements was at Sultan Hasanuddin Airport in Makassar with 5,421 aircraft movements, followed by Juanda Airport in Surabaya with 4,786 aircraft movements, and I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport in Bali with 3,676 aircraft movements. As for cargo traffic, Sentani Airport in Jayapura ranked first with 10,978,783 kg, followed by Sultan Hasanuddin Airport in Makassar with 5,993,694 kg, and Juanda Airport in Surabaya with 4,929,941 kg.

During February 2022, 15 airports under the management of Angkasa Pura Airports served an average of 92,557 passengers per day, 1,094 aircraft movements per day, and 1,244,831 kg of cargo movements per day.

“From this moment forth, we are becoming more optimistic on the prospect of passenger and flight traffic growth. With the return of regular flights to international routes in Bali and the issuance of the Ministry of Transportation Circular Letter No. 21/2022, we believe that this will have a very positive impact on increasing passenger traffic in general, particularly at the 15 managed airports,” Faik Fahmi added. 

“We are committed to consistently ensuring the implementation of health protocols in accordance with applicable regulations in order to realize safe, comfortable and healthy flights for all service users,” he concluded.
