Continuing to Increase International Routes, I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport Serves Flights on Istanbul-Bali Route

I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport served an average daily international route of 520 passengers per day

Jakarta, March 30, 2022 - I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport added regular international flight routes with the operation of flight on Istanbul-Bali route via Turkish Airlines. Flight TK66 departing from Istanbul Airport landed on the runway of I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport on Tuesday (29/03) night at 19.41 WITA after flying for almost 12 hours.

The flight using Boeing 787-900 Dreamliner arrived in Bali carrying 288 passengers, and returned to serve Bali-Istanbul route via flight number TK67 on the same day at 21:35 WITA carrying 208 passengers. Based on the schedule, the flight will operate three times a week, every Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday.

Turkish Airlines has operated the route since July 2019, and had stopped operations at the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020.

AP I’s President Director Faik Fahmi welcomed the reopening of the route. “After last Monday, I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport returned to serve regular international flights on Kuala Lumpur-Bali route. On Tuesday night, more flights on international routes operated at the airport. We welcomed the flight with enthusiasm. First, more flights on international routes connect to Bali. Second, the occupancy of the inaugural flight of Turkish Airlines TK66 has almost reached 96% of the total passenger seat capacity,” Faik Fahmi said.

“For the Bali-Istanbul route, the aircraft occupancy rate is high at 70%. This is a very good start, considering the increasing interest, confidence, and enthusiasm of service users. Angkasa Pura AirportsI as the operator of Airport I Gusti Ngurah Rai, one of the entry points for international flights, together with other stakeholders are committed to continuing to maintain the trust of air transportation service users, so that it will increasingly attract the interest of the international community to visit Bali in particular, and Indonesia in general,” he continued.

Through the additional route, I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport currently served seven regular international routes, namely Singapore, Melbourne, Sydney, Tokyo, Kuala Lumpur, Doha, and Istanbul. Turkish Airlines was the ninth airline serving regular international flight routes to and from Bali, joining Garuda Indonesia, Singapore Airlines, JetStar Asia, Scoot, KLM, JetStar Airways, AirAsia, and Qatar Airways.

Since regular international flights resumed its operation at I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport on February 3, 2022, 28,623 passengers and 289 aircraft movements arriving and departing from Bali, with details of 18,126 passengers and 148 aircraft movements arriving Bali and 10,497 arriving passengers and 141 aircraft movements departing Bali.

“Through the additional flight, I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport served an average of 520 passengers and 5 aircraft movements per day. We have received a list of flight plans for regular international routes whose route permits have been issued for the summer period, and the airlines are currently in the process of re-activating flight routes through the Directorate General of Civil Aviation of the Ministry of Transportation. The number of prospective flights is high. We are optimistic that the regular international flights to serve will continue to increase. We welcome the additional flight with enthusiasm as it will bring a breath of fresh air to tourism and will boost economic recovery,” Faik Fahmi concluded.
