BALI – I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport is taking action against the spreading of the  Middle East Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus (MERS-CoV) virus. As the main gate to enter the Islands of Gods, the Angkasa Pura Airports in cooperation with the Port Health Office (KKP) of Ngurah Rai is anticipating the spreading of this virus in Bali.

“We have established coordination to prevent this virus spreading through I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport,” said Co. GM of I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport, I Gusti Ngurah Ardita.

As a prevention, KKP has set up the thermal scanner at the arrival gate of international flights. Passengers or crew members that are detected with high temperature shall be further examined.

“Currently, there is no direct flight from the Middle East to Bali. However, observing the circumstances, starting this Thursday (8/5) I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport will install the body temperature examination procedure for Qatar Airways’ passengers from Singapore, since Qatar Airways’ route is from Qatar (Doha-Singapore-Bali). We hope that this examination procedure can prevent the spreading of MERS-CoV in Bali,” explained Ardita. [Arif Haryanto/Source: Humas DPS]
