Angkasa Pura Property, Adhi Karya Sign MOU on Waste and Garbage Management at All Angkasa Pura Airports

JAKARTA - PT Angkasa Pura Properti, a subsidiary of Angkasa Pura I, signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with PT Adhi Karya (Persero) Tbk. related to waste and garbage management activities in all airport areas belonging to Angkasa Pura Airports.

The MoU was signed in Medan Industrial Estate (KIM), Deli Serdang, North Sumatra, by PT Angkasa Pura Properti President Director Pikri Ilham Kurniansyah and PT Adhi Karya (Persero) Tbk. President Director Entus Asnawi Mukhson on Thursday, November 25, 2021. The MoU signing ceremony was also witnessed directly by the Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) of the Republic of Indonesia, Erick Thohir.

The MoU covers all forms of activities related to initial assessments on the utilization of potential collaboration in the company’s business development in accordance with the capabilities and competencies of each party. Meanwhile, the business line with the potential collaboration between PT Angkasa Pura Properti and Adhi Karya (Persero) is waste and garbage management in all airport areas belonging to Angkasa Pura I.

To support the implementation of a sustainable business with an environmental vision, Angkasa Pura I also encourages the role of subsidiaries in terms of waste and garbage management at airports in a comprehensive and effective manner,” AP I President Director, Faik Fahmi said.

PT Angkasa Pura Properti President Director Pikri Ilham Kurniansyah said that the collaboration between PT Angkasa Pura Properti as a subsidiary of Angkasa Pura I engaged in property development, property management and utilities, and construction services and PT Adhi Karya (Persero) Tbk. is established to implement comprehensive waste and garbage management at all airports in accordance with government regulations. Through collaboration with PT Adhi Karya (Persero) Tbk. that has expertise as waste and garbage management service provider, Angkasa Pura I is committed to realizing effective waste management to protect the environment and realize a green airport.

“Waste management project at all Angkasa Pura Airports will support the conservation movement, environmental education with various environmental conservation activities, and tourism development based on sustainable management principles. I would like to thank to the Minister of SOEs, Erick Thohir, who witnessed the MoU signing ceremony today,” said Pikri Ilham Kurniansyah after the MoU signing ceremony.

The collaboration between the two parties, which are part of the Ministry of SOEs, is a manifestation of the synergy between SOEs in the implementation of collaboration value as one of the core values ​​of each SOE. Collaboration between SOEs is expected to create connectivity with a wider range of different business lines and the development of SOEs in the global market.

For information, in the implementation of planning and development of sustainability principles on waste management, Angkasa Pura I issued special regulation through the Directors’ Instruction on the management of waste and chemical substances at Angkasa Pura airports and a Circular on the implementation of single-use plastic waste restrictions.

The Company conducted waste management efforts to prevent environmental pollution, both liquid waste, solid waste (garbage), and hazardous and toxic waste (LB3) through the provision of various facilities such as waste water management installation, integrated temporary waste disposal sites, and a licensed B3 waste storage place.

Total waste at all Angkasa Pura I airports in 2020 was 5,943 tons, while total waste in 2019 reached 23,000 tons.
