Angkasa Pura I Gelar Kick-off Meeting untuk Gagas Pembangunan Museum Bandara Kemayoran

JAKARTA - PT Angkasa Pura I (Persero) held a kick-off meeting to realize the idea of the construction of Indonesia Kemayoran Airport Museum, housed in the Hotel NAM Center, Kemayoran, Jakarta (13/6). The event was attended among others by representatives of Angkasa Pura II, Perum LPPNPI, Garuda Indonesia, Save Ex Kemajoran Airport Community, Tintin Indonesia Community, as well as Kemayoran Area Management Center (PPK Kemayoran).

"We take great care to save the cultural heritage former Kemayoran Airport as a commercial airport oldest in Indonesia. In addition, the long history of Angkasa Pura I also cannot be separated from the existence of this place. To that, we intend initiating an effort more concrete," explains Marketing & Business Development Director of Angkasa Pura I, Moch. Asrori. The initial goal, continued Asrori, it is to save the former terminal building and tower of Kemayoran Airport, then evolve to make it as a Kemayoran Airport Museum in order to save this cultural heritage.

This move has been initiated by holding an early meeting of the initiators consisting of Angkasa Pura I, Save Ex Kemajoran Airport Community, as well as the Tintin Indonesia Community on 31 May 2016. "We have obtained permission from the Chairman of the National Transportation Safety Committee (NTSC) to use the second floor and the third floor of the former Kemayoran Airport terminal. We agreed to participate in maintaining and caring for this heritage," said Asrori again.

Mokhammad Misdianto of Tintin Indonesian Community states that the preservation of the former Kemayoran Airport is very important because this place is an integral part of the history of airports in Indonesia.

"The legacy Kemayoran Airport is partly composed of former Tower (tower) air traffic controllers (ATC), apron, terminal building, including the terminal VIP, as well as the cross runway in Complex PRJ, Kemayoran, Central Jakarta. But it could be said that the traces Kemayoran Airports it is now no longer clearly visible," added Misdianto.

Kemayoran Airport tower has been used as objects of cultural heritage of Jakarta by Jakarta Governor Decree No. 475 of 1993 which was signed by the Governor of DKI Jakarta Suryadi Soedirja. The tower is part of the Kemayoran International Airport which has a central role in international commercial air traffic. Kemayoran International Airport which was built in 1934 and operates on July 6, 1940 This is the first international airport in Indonesia. On June 1, 1984, Kemayoran International Airport officially ceased operations and all civilian flights were transferred to Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, Tangerang. []
