Angkasa Pura Airports Wins 14 Awards on Occupational Safety and Health in 2019

JAKARTA – As an airport management company, Angkasa Pura Airports strives to apply the principles of safety, security, service, and compliance (3S 1C) to prove high commitment of the company to occupational safety and health (K3) which began in 2017.

As the result, Angkasa Pura Airports won 14 awards from the Ministry of Manpower of the Republic of Indonesia. The K3 Awards event was held by the Ministry on Monday (22/4) at Bidakara Hotel in Jakarta. The award also makes the entire airport managed by Angkasa Pura Airports obtain a Gold Flag Occupational Health and Safety Management Certificate (SMK3) with satisfactory results for the 166 criteria.

Below are the details of the 14 awards received by Angkasa Pura Airports:
1.    Nine airports: Juanda International Airport in Surabaya, Sultan Hasanuddin International Airport in Makassar, Adisutjipto International Airport in Yogyakarta, Syamsudin Noor International Airport in Banjarmasin, Sam Ratulangi International Airport in Manado, Lombok International Airport in Lombok, Pattimura International Airport in Ambon, El Tari International Airport in Kupang, and Frans Kaisiepo International Airport in Biak succeeded in obtaining the SMK3 Golden Flag Certification Award with 166 Criteria.
2.    Four airports: I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport in Bali, Sultan Hasanuddin International Airport, Sultan Aji Muhammad Sulaiman Sepinggan International Airport in Balikpapan, and Sam Ratulangi International Airport managed to obtain Zero Accident Award in 2018.
3.    I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport won an award on HIV & AIDS Prevention and Control Program in 2018. 

"Management's commitment on work safety since 2017 has optimal results in 2019 marked with these 14 awards. The awards are acknowledgment and appreciation for companies that always prioritize the principles of safety, security, services and compliance in their business process. Occupational Safety and Health Management (SMK3) implementation system in Angkasa Pura Airports is a manifestation of commitment from the Top Management to comply with Law No.1 of 1970 on Occupational Safety," said Angkasa Pura Airports president director Faik Fahmi. 

Angkasa Pura Airports won the awards after conducting an external audit of SMK3 with 166 criteria according to Government Regulation No. 50 of 2012 in nine airports in 2018 of which four other airports (I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport, Adi Soemarmo International Airport in Solo, SAMS Sepinggan International Airport, and General Ahmad Yani International Airport in Semarang) have received SMK3 certificate.

The purpose of Occupational Health and Safety Management is to provide protection for the work safety and health of workers and other people, to safeguard the company's assets or production resources so that they can be used safely and efficiently to increase productivity and create a safe, healthy, and comfortable workplace environment for employees, customers, business partners, and other parties in the company's work environment.
"This award is also a trigger to consistently applying SMK3, not only for Angkasa Pura Airports, but also all stakeholders who work with Angkasa Pura Airports," Faik said. 

For information, in 2017 - 2018, Angkasa Pura Airports won several achievements, including:
1.    General Ahmad Yani International Airport won a Gold Flag SMK3 Certificate from the Indonesian Ministry of Manpower and was the First Airport in Indonesia to succeed in obtaining a Gold Flag SMK3 Certificate in Advanced Category.
2.    Three airports, namely I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport, SAMS Sepinggan International Airport, and Adi Soemarmo International Airport won Double Certificate which are the Gold Flag SMK3 Certificate from the Indonesian Ministry of Manpower and OHSAS 18001:2007 Certificate. They were first three airports in Indonesia that have won the Double Certificate as well as the National SMK3 Regulations and International SMK3 Standards.
