Angkasa Pura Airports Tighten Oversight Of Laptops And Electronic Goods Passenger

Jakarta, April 2nd, 2017- Angkasa Pura Airports will tighten inspection procedures to laptops and electronic goods passenger aircraft at 13 airports managed by the company in order to enhance the security and safety of users of aviation services in the country. The checking procedure will be performed prior to passengers boarding an aircraft. This is in line with the Regulation of the Director General of Civil Aviation Number SKEP/2765/XII/2010 about passenger Safety Inspection Procedures, Personnel Aircraft and goods that transported by air and individual, SE 6 year 2016 on Inspection Procedures Baggage and baggage which in form of electronic goods which are transported by airplane.

Candidates’ air passenger currently required to remove laptops and electronic goods passenger baggage/ passenger tote bags and checked through the X-ray machine.

If the laptop or electronic items that have been examined through X-ray examination but still suspicious, officers Aviation Security (Avsec) will perform manually by asking passengers to turn on and operate laptops and electronic devices. Avsec officer will monitor and see the results of operation of the laptop and electronic devices of candidates. “In order to improve the security and safety of passengers during the flight as well as anticipate the escalation of aviation security threats, we’ll need the help and cooperation of the passengers to be able to follow and comply with the inspection procedures that has set forth,” said Israwadi, corporate Secretary Angkasa Pura Airports.

Stringent checks on laptops and electronic goods confirmed in the instruction of General Directorate Aviation Number 3 year 2017 about the efforts to improve the handling of the Civil Aviation bomb set (Bomb Thread) on Civil Aviation which was set on March 30th 2017 due to rampant issue bomb threat.
