Earth Hour is an environment campaign initiated globally by WWF. This campaign has the purpose to inspire and empower individuals, business institutions, organizations and the government to take actual actions for the environment. As one of first open source campaigns on climate change, this campaign has developed from a symbolic activity in one city in 2007 to the largest grass root environment movement in the world which covers more than 7,000 cities and 180 countries and regions.

“WWF Indonesia proudly welcomes the participation of PT Angkasa Pura Airports in which 13 airports under its management have participated in the Earth Hour 2018, a symbolic action of switching off lights for one hour. In particular, WWF Indonesia also appreciates the Ngurah Rai Airport for its success in earning the award as the best Airport in the Asia Pacific with the total passengers of 15-25 million people per year. As a center of public mobilization, airports are the right location for public education on the issues of environment and climate change, using among others energy saving technology. Large airport area is also very good to function as a water absorbing area so as to assist in the preservation of water resources,” stated by Wawan Ridwan, the Director of Coral Triangle Program of WWW-Indonesia.
