Angkasa Pura Airports Serves 3.7 Million Passengers During 2019 Eid Exodus

JAKARTA - Angkasa Pura Airports has successfully supported the 2019 Eid exodus and the realization of zero accident target with the passenger traffic of 3,749,339 people, air traffic of 30,576 movements, and cargo of 12,200 tons at 14 airports during the period of 2019 Eid’s Integrated Air Transport Post on May 29 (H-7) to June 13 (H+7).

"A total of 3.7 million passenger movements occurred at 14 Angkasa Pura Airports during this year's Eid exodus. Angkasa Pura Airports always prioritizes optimal service to ensure smooth and comfortable exodus. In addition, Angkasa Pura I also facilitates travelers through free exodus trips using other modes of transportation such as buses and ships. It was done for the purpose of smooth and comfortable 2019 Eid exodus," said Angkasa Pura Airports president director Faik Fahmi.

For information, the highest passenger traffic from H-7 to H+7 occurs at I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport in Bali with total passenger traffic reaching to 1,098,930 people. The second highest traffic occurred at Juanda International Airport in Surabaya with passenger traffic of 774,138 people, followed by Sultan Hasanuddin International Airport in Makassar of 480,791 people.

The highest outbound traffic in 14 Angkasa Pura Airports occurred on June 1 (H-4) with a total passenger movement of 261,568 people. Meanwhile, the highest inbound traffic occurred on June 9 (H+3) with a total passenger movement of 29,759 people.

In addition, the percentage of on time performance (OTP) at 14 Angkasa Pura Airports during the exodus period is 76 percent, with the highest OTP occurred at Yogyakarta International Airport in Kulon Progo and Adi Soemarmo International Airport in solo of 87 percent, followed by General Ahmad Yani International Airport of 86 percent, and El Tari International Airport in Kupang of 85 percent.

During this period, Angkasa Pura Airports also has served 710 extra flights. Juanda International Airport had the most additional flights of 195 flights, followed by Adisucipto International Airport in Yogyakarta of 130 flights and I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport of 122 additional flights.

Service Improvement and Social Assistance

During Ramadan and the 2019 Eid’s Integrated Air Transport Post period, Angkasa Pura Airports has made various efforts to improve services at its 14 airports. Some of the services are free takjil (snacks for fast-breaking), music performances at several airports, nursery rooms, and kid zone or playgrounds for passengers with children. There is also an airport cinema that plays religious films at Sultan Aji Muhammad Sulaiman Sepinggan International Airport in Balikpapan.

Besides, Angkasa Pura Airports also provided free health services in collaboration with the Port Health Office in each airport, room or area for travelers who spend the night at the airport (implemented only at several airports), weather information service in collaboration with the local weather agency, entertainment, and photo spots with Ramadan nuance.

Apart from health services, Angkasa Pura Airports also organized various social activities. One of them was supporting Safari Ramadan activities of the Ministry of SOE by channeling aids and pre-worship facilities worth Rp500 million as well as 1,000 Qur’an and social assistance for 1,000 orphans in five districts in Central Java. In addition, Sembako (nine basic necessities) Ramadan were also distributed in all Angkasa Pura I branches of 7,025 packages with a value of Rp1,081,137,000. For free takjil distribution at the airport, Angkasa Pura Airports prepared around 130,000 packages during the fasting month of Ramadan. [DR]
