Angkasa Pura Airports Operates Affordable Market for Low-Income Family

SURAKARTA - Angkasa Pura Airports operates pasar murah or affordable market in Selo District and Ngemplak District in Boyolali Regency, Central Java on Friday (16/08/2019).

The market was operated as a manifestation of State-Owned Enterprises concern for the low-income family so they are able to obtain basic necessities at affordable prices in the momentum of the celebration of the 74th Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia. This is also part of a series of BUMN Hadir Untuk Negeri (BUMN Presents for the Nation) which focus on fulfilling the basic needs of the community.

"As a SOE, Angkasa Pura Airports also has a social role to help people who are living below the poverty line by providing assistance on basic needs. One of them is by providing cheap food packages at the market operated at the 74th anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia, as an evidence that SOE presents for the people of Indonesia,said Angkasa Pura Airports president director Faik Fahmi.

The affordable market in two sub-districts in Boyolali sell two thousand food packages worth Rp100,000 were sold for only Rp25,000 per package. The food package contains two kilograms of rice, two liters of cooking oil, one kilogram of sugar, 500 grams of salt, 840 grams of canned sardines and one kilogram of flour. The affordable market in Selo District was operated in three locations; in the Jrakah Village Office, Lencoh Village Office and Senden Village Office.

"Proceeds from the sale of the food packages will later be donated to local houses of worship in the form of facilities or for building public facilities in nearby locations such as sanitation, schools, or road repairs," Faik added.

In addition to the affordable market, Angkasa Pura Airports also provides other basic necessities such as clean water facilities, MCK (bath, wash, toilet) facilities, electricity connections, and homes for residents in Boyolali, Semarang and Klaten, all in Central Java.
