Angkasa Pura Airports Lakukan Groundbreaking Bandara Syamsudin Noor Banjarmasin

BANJARBARU - Angkasa Pura Airports International Airport officially began development of Syamsudin Noor Banjarmasin by doing groundbreaking development activities of the airport's community pride in Banjarbaru, South Kalimantan, on Monday (18/05/2015).

The groundbreaking ceremony was conducted by Vice President Muhammad Jusuf Kalla, and witnessed among others by the Minister of Transport Ignatius Jonan, South Kalimantan Governor Rudy Ariffin, as well as Director of Angkasa Pura Airports Tommy Soetomo.

"In  momentum of 51 years age of Angkasa Pura Airports this year, we did a groundbreaking development Banjarmasin Syamsudin Noor International Airport. This airport development aim to improve the service to the passengers. During the past 2014, Syamsudin Noor Airport has served 3.7 million passengers, whereas capacity of approximately 6,600 m2 terminal is only 1.3 million passengers per year. Through this development, the terminal's capacity will increase to 10 million passengers per year, with an area of 125,000 m2 terminal," said Tommy Soetomo.
"Thus, the problem of lack of capacity at these airports will be resolved. In addition, increasing the capacity and quality of service at this airport would spur economic development, business, and tourism in the province of South Kalimantan," said Tommy.

In addition, during the Haj season, Syamsudin Noor Airport has been serving pilgrims from South Kalimantan and surrounding areas with direct flights to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. The presence of the new terminal Syamsudin Noor Airport is also to accommodate the increase of pilgrims who wanted to go to the holy land of the busiest embarkation Hajj in Indonesia in 2010.

Syamsudin Noor Airport new terminal will be built by combining local knowledge and elements of modernity. The uniqueness of the floating markets lifted by applying the Barito river boats boat shape on the roof of the main terminal. Fine line resembling diamonds appear in all elements of the building, giving the image of luxury and wealth of the earth in South Kalimantan.

Modern side comes through advanced equipment of international standards are applied at the airport. Facilities such as 5 aviobridge that can be developed into 11 units in the ultimate phase, 40 check-in counters, baggage conveyor 4, as well as an area of 36 450 m2 parking area that can accommodate 1,164 vehicles will complete Angkasa Pura I committed in providing the best service to users services at this airport.

"Development of Syamsudin Noor International Airport is a continuation of a series of development of airports conducted by Angkasa Pura I, once in 2014 and has successfully completed the development of Ngurah Rai Airport Bali, Juanda Airport in Surabaya, Sultan Aji Muhammad Sulaiman Sepinggan, as well as the groundbreaking for the development of Ahmad Yani airport in Semarang," said Tommy.
