Angkasa Pura Airports Held The FGD Of Earthquake And Tsunami Mitigationin Kulon Progo - Yogyakarta

JAKARTA - In order to increase the understanding of the potential for disaster in the country and to strengthen the planning of airport facility development project in Kulon Progo, Angkasa Pura Airports held Focus Group Discussion (FGD) with theme "Earthquake and Tsunami Mitigation in Kulon Progo-Yogyakarta" on Thursday (28 / 9/2017) at Grand Mercure Hotel Kemayoran, Jakarta.

Present as speaker persons in the FGD and Panel Discussion, they were Prof. Ir. Mansyur Irsyam, PhD (Head of R & D Center for Housing and Settlements), Dr. Eko Yulianto (LIPI), Dr. M. Bagus Adityawan, ST, MT (Lecturer of Faculty of Civil and Environmental Engineering ITB), Dr. Jaya Murjaya, M.Si (Head of Potential Geophysical Engineering Seymology and Time BMKG) and Drs. Mochammad Riyadi, M.Si (Head of BMKG Earthquake and Tsunami Center).

In his speech, the Director of Engineering Angkasa Pura Airports Polana B. Pramesti said that the issue of the tsunami became very important for Angkasa Pura Airports because many were asking about the feasibility of airport development especially in Kulon Progo. "Through this FGD activity, tsunami issues from competent experts will be a positive input for Angkasa Pura Airports to answer questions about the feasibility of airport development in Kulon Progo more academically," said Polana B. Pramesti.

This FGD of Earth quake and Tsunami Mitigation activity is a follow up activity of FGD for Earthquake and Tsunami Handling held September 14, 2017 in Yogyakarta. "We hope this FGD can benefit all of us, especially for Angkasa Pura Airports in planning airport facilities in Kulon Progo and other airports that have potential disasters such as earthquake and tsunami," added by Polana.

FGD participants who attended the event included representatives from the Ministry of Transportation, Directorate of Air Transportation, PT Virama Karya (Persero), PT NSE, BMKG, LIPI, and academics from Bandung Institute of Technology. [AD]
