Angkasa Pura Airports Establishes Air Transport Post for 2019 Eid Exodus

JAKARTA – In a bid to support the government program in smoothing traffic during the 2019 Eid exodus, Angkasa Pura Airports establishes Integrated Air Transport Posts during Eid in all airports (14 airport branches). The integrated post is one of service of Angkasa Pura Airports in dealing with the Eid exodus.

The integrated post is operating on May 29 (H-7) to June 13 (H+7) with the peak period of homecoming on May 30 to June 1 while the peak period of return is on June 9 to June 10. The post involves internal Angkasa Pura Airports officer aviation security (Avsec), apron movement control (AMC), passenger service, airport rescue and fire-fighting (ARFF), data entry, information technology, facility & equipment readiness] and external parties [Indonesian Military, National Police, Airport Authority (Otban), AirNav, SAR, port health office, custom-immigration-quarantine (CIQ), airlines, and ground handling].

"This Integrated Air Transport Post is a form of our commitment and related institutions to continue to provide excellent service amid the increasing passenger traffic during the Eid holiday so that airport service users feel comfortable although airports are packed. In addition, we are also committed to creating a comfortable, safe, and conducive atmosphere during this Eid holiday,” said Angkasa Pura Airports president director Faik Fahmi.

When the integrated post is operating, both domestic and international extra flights are exempts from the landing charge and extended tariffs from 29 May to 13 June 2019.

Apart from that, during Ramadan, Angkasa Pura Airports made various efforts to improve services at its 14 airports. Among them are free light snacks to break the fast (takjil) at the airport, music performances at several airports, and nursery rooms, kid zone or playgrounds that can be used by passengers with children while waiting for flights. There is also an airport cinema that plays religious film at Balikpapan's Sultan Aji Muhammad Sulaiman Sepinggan International Airport, and other public facilities.

Besides, Angkasa Pura Airports also organizes various social activities. One of them is assistance for Safari Ramadan activities of the Ministry of SOE by channeling aids of worship facilities worth Rp500 million (US$34,800) and 1,000 Qur'an as well as aids for 1,000 orphans in five districts in Central Java. In addition, nine basic necessities (Sembako) were distributed in all branches of Angkasa Pura Airports of 7,025 packages with a value of Rp1,081,137,000.

For free takjil distribution at the airport, Angkasa Pura Airports prepares around 130,000 takjil packages during the holy month of Ramadan.

Free Exodus Trips

Angkasa Pura Airports also organizes "2019 Angkasa Pura I Free Exodus Trips" for people in Jakarta, East Kalimantan, and South Sulawesi Provinces, by preparing buses and ships. Angkasa Pura Airports provides as many as 2,520 seats from 63 AC buses for travelers from Jakarta to six cities, namely Semarang, Surakarta, Yogyakarta, Wonosobo, Bobotsari, and Surabaya. Travelers will get a package of snacks, medicines, t-shirts, and other souvenirs, including life insurance for the comfort and safety of travelers during their journey to their hometown.

Meanwhile, for travelers who travel by ships, Angkasa Pura Airports provides 1,000 Pelni ship seats with of which 400 seats are dedicated to Makassar to Surabaya route using KM Labobar and 600 seats in Balikpapan to Surabaya route using KM Dobonsolo.

Departure of travelers will be carried out in stages. On May 30, 2019 one bus Jakarta-Semarang route will depart while the remaining 62 buses will depart on May 31, 2019 from Jakarta to Semarang, Surakarta, Yogyakarta, Wonosobo, Bobotsari, and Surabaya. Then, travelers from Makassar to Surabaya who travel by KM. Labobar departs on May 27, 2019 and those who travel from Balikpapan to Surabaya by KM. Dobonsolo will depart on May 30, 2019.
