Angkasa Pura Airports Ensures Comfort, Smoothness For Christmas And New Year Holidays

JAKARTA - Angkasa Pura Airports is set to welcome Christmas and New Year’s holiday at its 14 airports by improving facilities, services and security.

Angkasa Pura Airports has also prepared the Integrated Christmas and New Year 2020 Air Transport Post in all airports under its management, which operates for 19 days from December 19, 2019 to January 6, 2020.

"Angkasa Pura Airports always maintain services during Christmas and 2020 New Year’s holidays by coordinating intensively with all relevant parties. This is done to ensure that all operational activities at 14 Angkasa Pura Airports can run smoothly," said Angkasa Pura Airports president director Faik Fahmi, in Jakarta, Friday (6/12).

To support the Integrated Air Transport Post, Angkasa Pura Airports has prepared thousands of officers from Angkasa Pura I. External personnel are from the Airport Authority, the Indonesian Military (TNI), the National Police, AirNav Indonesia, the National Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas), the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) and Port Health Office, airlines as well as ground handling.

"We also prepare a CCTV network that is connected to the center of command at the Angkasa Pura I headquarters in Jakarta. In addition, contact person from each airport is prepared during the operation of the integrated post," Faik added.

Besides, Angkasa Pura Airports also provides extra services during Christmas and New Year’s holiday that can be enjoyed by airplane passengers such as Live Music, Kid Zone, Extra Bandwidth Internet Corner, regional art performances, Photo Booth Airport Icon, multi-sensory space as well as Christmas and New Year’s decoration in the terminal area.

To support the smooth operation of the airport, during the holiday period, Angkasa Pura Airports will maximize the Airport Operation Control Center (AOCC) which has operated at 11 airports. The airports are I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport in Bali, General Ahmad Yani International Airport in Semarang, Juanda International Airport in Surabaya, Sultan Hasanuddin International Airport in Makassar, Sultan Aji Muhammad Sulaiman Sepinggan International Airport in Balikpapan, Frans Kaisiepo International Airport in Biak, Adi Soemarmo International Airport in Surakarta, Adisutjipto International Airport in Yogyakarta, Lombok International Airport in Praya, Syamsudin Noor International Airport in Banjarmasin, and Pattimura International Airport in Ambon.

"The AOCC is expected to expedite and improve operational performance, service level agreement and airport key performance index during the Christmas and New Year’s holiday this year as a manifestation of Angkasa Pura Airports' commitment to continue improving quality service for airport users," Faik said.

Not only ensuring readiness in terms of facilities and services, Angkasa Pura Airports also focuses on improving flight safety and security as well as anticipating natural disasters that may occur during peak season.

"All Angkasa Pura I airports already have the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) on Airport Disaster Management System which is a guide to handling airport operations in emergency conditions, especially when natural disaster strikes," Faik said.

During Christmas and New Year’s holiday this year, it is predicted the passenger traffic in all Angkasa Pura I airports will see a decline from 4.6 million passengers to 4 million, declined 12.3 percent compared to last year. The holiday’s peak is expected to occur on Saturday, December 21, 2019 and Sunday, January 5, 2020.
