MANGUPURA - Following the 2018 IMF and World Bank Annual Meetings in Bali in October, Angkasa Pura Airports announced the company had utilized a world-class technology, collaborating with multinational information technology company SITA to manage airports with significant growth on passenger traffic each year.

Angkasa Pura Airports’ commitment to improve the utilization of world-class technology in the airport sector has been proven by the signing of a collaboration between a subsidiary of Angkasa Pura Airports, PT Angkasa Pura Supports, and SITA at I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport in Bali on Thursday (11/10).

Indonesia is the largest aviation market in Southeast Asia with more than 110 million passenger traffic in 2017 and the number continues to grow significantly every year. In 2036, Indonesia is predicted to enter the top four in the world aviation market with estimation of passenger traffic to reach 355 million.

Potential growth and social benefits of the aviation industry as well as SITA’s position as the provider of airport technology will support the realization of Angkasa Pura Airports’ vision to be one of the top 10 airport management companies in Asia, operating airports with a world-class system to provide passengers travel experience.

Angkasa Pura Airports Director of Business Development Sardjono Jhony Tjitrokusumo said: “SITA has become a trusted partner for Angkasa Pura Airports to contribute to the improvement of technology in our two airports, namely I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport in Bali and Juanda International Airport in Surabaya, which also contribute to the achievement of national and international awards received by these airports. Following the success, our subsidiary PT Angkasa Pura Supports is ready to work with SITA and introduce innovative smart airport technologies that can enable us to implement world-class airport operation and improve the capacity of our airports.”

SITA has supported Angkasa Pura Airports with its technology, AirportConnect Open, which is a public platform that allows airlines to operate smoothly in 13 airports of Angkasa Pura Airports since 2014. The platform is also able to introduce other SITA technologies such as self-service check-in kiosks, bag-drop and boarding gates as well as SITA ControlBridge which seamlessly integrates airport management capabilities for effective operational activities.

SITA Asia Pacific President Sumesh Patel said: “Indonesia has one of the best air transportation industry markets with significant traffic growth and an increase in aircraft investment, airports and infrastructure. SITA has been a major player in Indonesia for more than 10 years and we hope that we can continue the strategic partnership with Angkasa Pura Airports to be able to improve Angkasa Pura Airports in the future. Innovative airport technology, which we have successfully implemented in various airports throughout the world, will also contribute to the development of air transportation of Indonesia in the future.”

One of the smart airport technology innovations owned by SITA will be exhibited at the arrival and departure buildings of the I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport’s international terminal during the IMF-World Bank Annual Meetings on 8 to 14 October 2018.
