Angkasa Pura Airports - ACI Gelar Seminar ACI Small and Emerging Airports 2014

NUSA DUA, BALI - Angkasa Pura Airports in collaboration with Airports Council International (ACI) Asia-Pacific held Seminar on Small and Emerging ACI Airports 2014. The event, which took place on 20 to October 22, 2014, was held at the Grand Hyatt Nusa Dua, Bali. This seminar has theme of Navigating Aviation Growth and Challenges in Southeast Asia. This is the first time the event Seminar Small and Emerging ACI Airports was held in Indonesia. This seminar is an opportunity for Indonesia in preparation for entering the ASEAN Single Aviation Market by 2015, said Director of Angkasa Pura Airports Tommy Soetomo in Nusa Dua, on Tuesday (21/10). 

According to Tommy, the global trend of aviation, in the Asia-Pacific and the Middle East in the past 10 years, shows an increase in aircraft passenger traffic is very significant. "Indonesia is growing very fast. It takes a strong foundation and an international infrastructure, including airports and classy modern world. To keep pace with the demands of time, Indonesia needs to improve airport facilities, particularly in the areas of service, level of service, as well as research, and it can be extracted through this event," said Tommy.

Small airport is a term for a small airport with passenger numbers less than five million people per year. Lot of airports in the category of small airports in a position far behind the world-class airport. These small service businesses typically have a structure that is not healthy, so need improvements, not only optimization, but also requires the transformation as a whole. 

ASEAN Open Skies policy to be implemented in 2015 and the Global Open Skies in 2025 certainly will directly affect the airport, particularly in the Asia-Pacific and Middle East. Moreover, supported by economic development in the Asia-Pacific and the Middle East showed positive trends. "Small airports have the challenge to grow, especially in financial terms. They would not want to compete with the large airports in the face of such policies," said Director of Economic and Development Program ACI World Rafael Echevarne. 

Speakers at the seminar include Rafael Echevarne (Director of Economic and Development Program ACI World), Djoko Murjatmodjo (Director of Civil Aviation Ministry of Transportation), and Bambang Tjahjono (Director of the Ministry of Transportation Airport). Additionally, Polana B Pramesti (Technical Director Angkasa Pura I), Tri Sunoko (Director of Angkasa Pura II), and Karthi Gajendran (President of Airport Development GVK Service Indonesia).
