To Improve The Readiness Of Personnel And Facilities, Adisutjipto Yogyakarta Airport Held Simulation Of Emergency Exercises

YOGYAKARTA - To improve the readiness of personnel and facilities, Adisutjipto Yogyakarta Airport organized Emergency Prevention (PKD) training, Thursday (27/7/2017). This exercise series, named Dirgantara Raharja 92, included aircraft accident exercise, fire building exercise and bomb handling and security threat exercise.

The conditions in simulations of emergencies were made as real conditions. In the simulation of an aircraft crash, for example, it was suggested that Airbus A320 CQ-ANK airplane with an ANK092 flight number from Darwin to Jakarta suffered engine failure and decided to make an emergency landing at Adisutjipto Yogyakarta Airport. At the time the plane was about to land, the pilot gave info to the ATC tower (Air Traffic Control) and forwarded to the ARFF (Airport Rescue and Fire Fighting) team. When landing, the plane was carrying 143 passengers and 7 crew of this plane lost control so it shudder and fall on the perimeter fence Adisutjipto Airport, precisely in sector E-5. The ATC officer immediately informed the ARFF officer for emergency handling. The incident caused 17 people died, 33 people were seriously injured, 42 were moderately injured, and 52 were slightly injured. All victims are dealt with in accordance with applicable procedures.

This exercise involves at least 700 joint personnel from Angkasa Pura Airports, Adisutjipto Air Force, Perum LPPNPI Adisutjipto Branch, Class I Immigration Office Yogyakarta, Yogyakarta Customs and Excise Inspection and Service Office, security agencies, government and local hospitals, other.

"Periodically, Angkasa Pura Airports performs the PKD simulation activities to test the coordination, communication, command and synchronization functions between the units and agencies in accordance with the Airport Emergency Plan Document and the Airport Security Program Document)," explained by Wendo Asrul Rose as Angkasa Pura Airports Operations Director. "In addition, the PKD simulation activities also serve to test, train, as well as strengthen personnel capabilities in accordance with the task field in the framework of Aviation Emergency," Wendo said.

Not only testing the handling of emergency events, PKD exercises also test the post-event handling, such as handling the victims' families through simulation of greeters’ meeters and handling media through simulation of media handling activities.

Every two years, every airport managed by Angkasa Pura Airports carries out PKD exercises. In 2017, PKD training was held five times at Sultan Hasanuddin Makassar Airport (March 2017), Lombok International Airport (May 2017), Adisutjipto Airport Yogyakarta (July 2017), Syamsudin Noor Banjarmasin Airport (September 2017), and Pattimura Ambon Airport (November 2017).
