Strenghthening Good Corporate Governance Angkasa Pura Airports and BPKP Sign MoU

JAKARTA - Angkasa Pura Airports always strives to improve the implementation of good corporate governance through the involvement of government agencies to oversee and strengthen the implementation of good corporate governance practices at Angkasa Pura Airports.

This was shown through the signing of the memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Finance and Development Supervisory Agency (BPKP) related to strengthening good corporate governance, risk management, internal control, overcoming construction obstacles, and increasing capability of internal control unit within Angkasa Pura Airports.

The signing of the MoU was carried out by BPKP Deputy Head of State Accountant Sally Salamah and AP I’s President Director Faik Fahmi, witnessed by the Head of BPKP Muhammad Yusuf Ateh and Deputy Finance and Risk Management of the Ministry of SOEs Nawal Nely at the BPKP Office, Jakarta, on Friday, December 17, 2021. The signing of the memorandum of understanding was a follow-up to President Joko Widodo’s directives to strengthen governance, risk, and compliance of all SOEs and the subsidiaries.

“As a State-Owned Enterprise, Angkasa Pura Airports highly upholds the implementation of good corporate governance practices. As an effort to realize the GCG practices, the memorandum of understanding with BPKP was carried out to increase the capacity and capability of Angkasa Pura Airportsin the implementation of good corporate governance, management risk, internal control, overcoming construction obstacles, and increasing the capability of the internal supervisory unit at Angkasa Pura Airports,” AP I’s President Director, Faik Fahmi said.

In his remarks, the Head of BPKP Muhammad Yusuf Ateh said, “The signing of the memorandum of understanding is carried out with the spirit of contribution to the country, considering the importance and extent of the role of SOEs for the Indonesian economy, by overseeing the accountability and governance of all SOEs”.

The scope of the memorandum of understanding included the provision of assistance, auditing, evaluation, assertion, and monitoring in the context of implementing and strengthening good corporate governance, risk management, and internal control by BPKP to Angkasa Pura Airports. In addition, BPKP also provided guidance and consultation in the preparation of internal policies of Angkasa Pura Airports, including policies from Angkasa Pura Airports to its subsidiaries.

Other scopes included BPKP’s technical mediation to resolve problems faced by Angkasa Pura Airports with other SOEs and SOE affiliated companies; capacity building of human resources through training collaboration; increasing the effectiveness of fraud risk management, including Anti-Bribery Management System (SMAP), Whistleblowing System; and providing information for the purposes of BPKP planning, implementation of supervision, and monitoring.

“With the signing of the memorandum of understanding with BPKP, it is hoped that the implementation of good corporate governance at Angkasa Pura Airports will be stronger and eventually Angkasa Pura Airports can operate effectively and can contribute more to the community,” Faik Fahmi said.
