JAKARTA - Indonesia's flight safety rankings rose to 55th position from 191 countries based on the results of aviation safety audits conducted by the International Civil Aviation Organization or ICAO. That is, Indonesia's ranking shot almost double from the previous 151 positions.

Based on the audit results of Universal Safety Oversight Audit Program (USOAP) conducted by ICAO, Indonesia achieved 81.15 percent fulfillment. Thus the safety of flights in Indonesia has been compliant (compliance), even exceeding the standard set by ICAO of 64.71 percent.

"This is more than 81 percent, a remarkable number, because we know in 2014 we can only reach 45 percent, but now we can lift it almost twice as much," said by Director General of Air Transportation Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub) Agus Santoso in Jakarta, Thursday (16/11/2017).

The audit covers eight areas of assessment, including Licensing Personnel, Airworthiness (AIR), Legislation (LEG), Aerodromes (AGA), Organization (ORG), Operations (OPS), Air Navigation (ANS), Aircraft Investigation AIG).

"The highest is airworthiness, reaching 91 percent, ranging from aircraft, design, operation, until maintenance is met by the operator Aerodromes about 82 percent. Many efforts are made by regulators and operators in the aviation industry Indonesia to boost the position,"Agussaid.

With this position means Indonesia is better than other ASEAN countries. "Indonesia is already in position 55, formerly 151, so jumping overwhelmingly, past 96 countries, we are above the Philippines, Malaysia, Thailand, etc. By achieving this number, making Indonesia much more trusted in the international world," he added.

Related to this, President Director of PT Angkasa Pura I (Persero), Danang S Baskoro, expressed his appreciation to all parties, both operators and airlines regulators in Indonesia, who have worked together and sinched so that this achievement can be achieved.

"We, as airport operators, are committed to continuously enforce discipline in implementing the regulation as well as fulfill the 3S + 1C standard (Safety, Security, Service through Compliance) in all aspects of airport operations," Danangsaid. [AH]
