MAKASSAR -  Hotel projects built around the airport vicinity are becoming more popular. One of the hotel projects recently built near the airport in Makassar is Hotel Ibis Budget Makassar Airport, that is located in the terminal of the Sultan Hasanuddin International Airport  in Makassar. The hotel owned by the Angkasa Pura Hotel chain covers an area of 2,095 square meters with 121 rooms.

"The opening of the Hotel Ibis Budget Makassar Airport is expected to enhance the services of the Sultan Hasanuddin International Airport and strengthen the international brand image. In the future, it will attract more investors and tourists to visit the city," said Deputy Governor of South Sulawesi, Agus Arifin Numang as quoted from the official press release of the company, Monday (21/4/2014).

Hotel Ibis Budget Makassar Airport is the second hotel operated under the Angkasa Pura Hotels, while the Hotel Ibis Budget Surabaya Airport at Juanda International Airport in Surabaya has been operated since 2013. The Hotel Ibis Budget Makassar Airport is aimed to serve transit passengers of the Sultan Hasanuddin International Airport in Makassar that served 2.2 million passengers in 2013. There was a 14% rise in the number of passengers and it is estimated that in 2014, the number of passengers using the airport shall reach 10.9 million people, in which 3 million are transit passengers.

Adopting the budget hotel concept, this hotel is equipped with various facilities, such as two meeting rooms, breakfast area, internet corner and free internet access all over the hotel area. The innovative cocoon rooms of the Ibis Budget hotel are designed ergonomically and are offered with choices of single bed, double bed and triple bed facilities.

Angkasa Pura Hotels is a subsidiary of Angkasa Pura Airports that runs the hospitality business, lounges and inflight catering. For the next project, Angkasa Pura Hotels is planning to open Hotel Novotel Bali Airport at I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport in Bali by the end of 2014.
