JAKARTA - Angkasa Pura Airports participated in supporting the South Sulawesi Government’s program related to direct export shipments abroad through one of its subsidiaries, Angkasa Pura Logistics.

On Wednesday, December 1, 2021, Angkasa Pura Logistics inaugurated the opening of the first Makassar-Singapore international cargo route using Boeing 737-300 aircraft in collaboration with Tri-M.G airline. The aircraft has a maximum cargo capacity of 30,000 pounds and is scheduled to fly twice a week on Wednesdays and Saturdays.

Angkasa Pura Logistics’s air freight is an endeavor to meet customer needs in domestic and international delivery and distribution of cargo.

For one year since June 2020, Angkasa Pura Logistics with two ATR 72-500 freighters has served cargo flights to various domestic routes, including Batam, Banjarmasin, Balikpapan, Pekanbaru and Surabaya.

“Our job is to provide the means to support connectivity, access, and storage. This is a form of AP I’s commitment to supporting government programs in the implementation of the national logistic ecosystem,” AP I’s Business Development Director, Dendi T. Danianto said.

Dendi added that through its subsidiary, Angkasa Pura Logistics, it is hoped that it can help boost the cargo business and help improve the economy of South Sulawesi, especially in the export sector.

The flight also increases the number of special cargo flights that fly directly abroad from Sultan Hasanuddin Airport in Makassar. Back then, Garuda Indonesia opened a special cargo flight to Hong Kong and Singapore.

During 2021, cargo movements at Sultan Hasanuddin Airport were recorded at 77,000 tons, growing 30 percent from 2020. The inaugural flight from Angkasa Pura Logistics is  expected to boost export commodities, especially fishery commodities delivered from South Sulawesi.

The smooth and successful flight cannot be separated from the support and collaboration of the South Sulawesi Trade Department, The Center for Fish Quarantine, Quality Control and Safety in Makassar, Makassar Customs, exporters, and the Aircraft Freight Expedition (EMPU).

“Cargo is a potential business during the pandemic. I hope that the availability of direct flight services abroad will continue and increase the frequency in the future. In the next year, it is expected that shipments will increase by 50 percent,” Acting Governor of South Sulawesi, Andi Sudirman Sulaiman said.

Angkasa Pura Airports together with Angkasa Pura Logistics have revitalized the cargo terminal at Sultan Hasanuddin Airport in Makassar with an area of 1,700 square meters. The cargo terminal can serve warehousing, incoming-outgoing domestic and international cargo as well as transshipment. The interesting thing about the cargo facilities at Sultan Hasanuddin Airport is that 7 parking stands are available specifically for air freighters located right in front of the cargo terminal to ensure optimal operations. With the development of business and cargo movement, revitalization of the cargo terminal is the appropriate step to support cargo business operations at Sultan Hasanuddin Airport.
