Angkasa Pura Airports Support BNN To Do Urine Test to Aircraft Crew And Groundhandling Airport Sam Ratulangi Manado

MANADO - Angkasa Pura Airport supports and facilitates the National Narcotics Agency (BNN) of Manado city which holds urine tests against aircraft crew and ground handling at Sam Ratulangi Airport in Manado on Friday (6/23). Prior to the urine test, a coordination meeting was held with the representatives of the Airport Authority of Region VIII, TNI AU, Customs and Immigration.

Head of BNN Manado Eliasar Sopacoly said that BNN North and Central Sulawesi Provinces provide guidance to ensure the safety of passengers, especially in this homecoming season. Urine testing was done to ensure crew and ground handlings are not using drugs.

“The direction of this center has provided a good coordination space for the common good, in order to provide a sense of security for people using air transport,” Eliasar said.

This activity is a drug prevention, distribution and eradication operation. “This activity is expected to minimize human error so that the possibility of narcotics use in aircraft crew can be anticipated earlier, as happened in NTB where foreign pilot is positive and carry drugs. We as BNP are responsible for this inspection. But for technical we will coordinate with AP 1 and Airport Authority for technical smoothness of urine test at airport,” said Charles H, Head of BNN North Sulawesi Province. The urine test is held on the 2nd floor of Sam Ratulangi Manado Airport at the Port Health Office (KKP) office by going to the crew of the plane that will be on board for urine test while visiting the crew who are in the plane. “We strongly support the activities of BNN; this is done in order to create security, comfort and safety of passengers during the Lebaran Holiday.”Urine test is also conducted for crew and pilot to ensure no one consumes drugs, “said Erik Susanto, as PTS. “I and the crew here support this activity in addition to give confidence to others and myself that I am free of drugs, “said Bagus P, one of the pilots. In total there are 43 aircraft crew and ground handling that have been checked and negative on using narcotics. []
