Angkasa Pura Airports Collaboration Withh ACI For Airport Safety Review

SEMARANG - Angkasa Pura Airports conducts airport safety review at the General Ahmad Yani International Airport in Semarang, involving Airport Council International (ACI) and other international airport partners on October 28 to November 1, 2019.

The airport safety review is an initiative of Angkasa Pura Airports by participating in the Airport Excellence (APEX) Program in Safety initiated by ACI as an international airport organization that provides assistance to its members to improve compliance to the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) standards.

"Safety is an absolute principle in the aviation sector which must always be maintained and improved, besides the aspects of security, service, and compliance or often referred as 3S 1C. To realize the operational excellence of airports, especially in the aspect of safety, Angkasa Pura Airports periodically evaluates airport safety at its airports through participation in the APEX Program in Safety which involves ACI," said Angkasa Pura Airports operations director Wendo Asrul Rose.

The safety supporting aspects at the airport evaluated by the ACI Auditor Team are Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting (PKP PK); various documentation related to safety activities (safety management system, aerodrome certification, publication documentation of aeronautical validation information, etc.); visual aid or safety information (signs, lights, low visibility procedures, apron safety management, etc.); and wild animal management.

The ACI auditor team consists of international airport management from various countries, including Manager APEX in Safety ACI World Ermenando Silva, Manager Airfield Operations & Compliance Sydney Airport Corporation Anthony Conte C., Assistant General Manager-Airfield Infrastructure Planning Airport Authority Hong Kong Mak Kwok Kit (Wilson), Manager Airside Planning Munich Airport Denise Corinna Stroessner, Deputy Manager–Aviation Safety Bangalore International Airport Mahadeva Varier Gireesan, Senior Manager-Aerodrome SMS Dubai Airport Kellie Andrews, Senior Aviation Specialist Delhi International Airport Nagendra Nath Tiwari, Assistant General Manager Bangalore International Airport Sunil Kumar Vadakke Mudappat.

The General Ahmad Yani International Airport is the fifth airport to be evaluated by ACI after previously evaluated four Angkasa Pura I airports, namely I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport in Bali, Sultan Aji Muhammad Sulaiman Sepinggan International Airport in Balikpapan, Juanda International Airport in Surabaya, and Sultan International Hasanuddin International Airport in Makassar.

For information, ACI is the only association of world airports established in 1991. Based in Canada, ACI is a world organization that helps provide information and policies for airports in the world and helps develop airport standards.
