Ahead of Christmas and New Year, Angkasa Pura Airports Prepares 3,700 Personnel and 1,781 Extra Flights

JAKARTA – Angkasa Pura Airports gears up for the surge of passengers and aircrafts in 13 airports ahead of Christmas and New Year’s holiday by improving their facility, service and security.

 Angkasa Pura Airports also has prepared integrated post of air transportation for Christmas and New Year 2019 in all of its airports, operating for 18 days from 20 December 2018 to 6 January 2019.

 “Angkasa Pura Airports is ready to anticipate passengers surge during Christmas and New Year’s holiday by coordinating intensively with all related parties. It is done to assure the operations in 13 airports of Angkasa Pura I go smoothly,” said Angkasa Pura Airports president director Faik Fahmi in Jakarta on Friday (21/12/2018).

 Meanwhile, to support the integrated post, Angkasa Pura Airports prepares 3,700 officers supported by external personnel from the Airport Authority Office, the Indonesian Military, the National Police, the AirNav Indonesia, the Search and Rescue Agency, the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency, Port Health Office, airline and ground handling.

 “We also install CCTV connected to the Center of Command of Angkasa Pura I central office in Jakarta. Besides, there is a contact person for each airport who can be contacted during the operation of the integrated post,” Faik added.

 Apart from that, Angkasa Pura Airports provides extra service during the holiday season for the customer. Some of the service are live music, kid zone, extra bandwidth internet corner, traditional art performance, photo booth airport icon and decoration of Christmas and New Year in the terminals.

Angkasa Pura Airports will also maximize the use of Airport Operation Control Center (AOCC) operated in 11 airports. Those airports are I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport in Bali, General Ahmad Yani International Airport in Semarang, Juanda International Airport in Surabaya, Sultan Hasanuddin International Airport in Makassar, Sultan Aji Muhammad Sulaiman Sepinggan in Balikpapan, Frans Kaisiepo International Airport in Biak, Adi Soemarmo International Airport in Surakarta, Adi Sutjipto International Airport in Yogyakarta, Syamsudin Noor International Airport in Banjarmasin and Pattimura International Airport in Ambon.

“The establishment of AOCC is expected to smoothen and improve operational performance, service level agreement and key performance index of the airports during the Christmas and New Year’s holiday this year. That is Angkasa Pura I commitment to continuously improve the quality of our service for airport’s users,” Faik said.

Not only improving facility and service, Angkasa Pura Airports also focuses on upgrading flight safety and security as well as anticipating the handling of natural disasters which may occur during the peak season.

“All airports managed by Angkasa Pura Airports already have Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) Airport Disaster Management System which is a guidance on handling airport operations in emergency periods especially when natural disasters happen,” Faik said.

For Christmas and New Year’s holiday this year, Angkasa Pura Airports has added 1,781 extra flights with capacity of 332,424 chairs in nine airports.

“We predict the number of passengers will increase in all airports that we manage during Christmas and New Year’s holiday this year to 6.23 million from 5.86 million last year which account for 6.21 percent. The peak is predicted to be on Friday, 22 December 2018 and on Sunday, 6 January 2019,” he added.
